Addictions and the Goal to Control God's Thoughts

Relationships can be complicated. We often don't analyze why we do what we do, think what we think, or feel what we feel.

We're too focused on controlling what others are thinking or feeling to realize the desire to control what others think or feel masks internal insecurity within us.

For example, when we say, "I don't want you to think that (fill in the blank)..." or "I don't want you to feel that (fill in the blank)..." then we have a misplaced relational goal.

The goal to control what other people think or feel is a tell-tale sign of an addictive personality. That misplaced goal to control is actually driven by our need to feel good about what others are thinking or feeling about us. Secure people let people freely think and feel.

A desire to control is as addictive as narcotics. The only difference is that a control addict can keep up appearances. But any misplaced relational goal can lead to outward addictive behavior when the goal to control collapses and comes crashing down. When others outright reject you, no matter your efforts to control what they think or feel about you,  your goal to control has failed. Masking the feeling of failure is the basis for addictive behaviors.

So, let's talk about our relational goal in terms of the most important Person in our lives. What is your relational goal in terms of God? What is your purpose in terms of God?

Most Christians would respond by saying:
"My purpose is to be pleasing to God." (e.g. "I just want Him to feel good about me.")
Then, when it comes to "how" one is pleasing to God, the answer is usually:  "By doing what He commands." I propose to you that any attempt to please God by your obedience to His standards is a wrong goal that can lead to addictive behaviors. You will fail. To seek to become pleasing to God by your actions is a misplaced purpose or goal.

You already are pleasing to God through the Person and actions of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the end of your goal to be obedient to the Law to obtain God's pleasure, for it is written:
"For Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes" (Romans 10:4).
"But wait," you may say, "I read the Bible for myself and it says that God's acceptance, blessings, and favor are on those who obey His Law!"
"If you obey the Lord your God: Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb, the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your livestock, both the increase of your cattle and the issue of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out…. The Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground in the land that the Lord swore to your ancestors to give you. The Lord will open for you his rich storehouse, the heavens, to give the rain of your land in its season and to bless all your undertakings." (Deuteronomy 28:2-711–12)
"And listen to these three paragraphs from the Law":
"However, if you do not obey the Lord your God and do not carefully follow all his commands and decrees I am giving you today, all these curses will come on you and overtake you: You will be cursed in the city and cursed in the country. Your basket and your kneading trough will be cursed. The fruit of your womb will be cursed, and the crops of your land, and the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. You will be cursed when you come in and cursed when you go out.
The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you have done in forsaking him. The Lord will plague you with diseases until he has destroyed you from the land you are entering to possess. The Lord will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish. The sky over your head will be bronze, the ground beneath you iron. The Lord will turn the rain of your countryinto dust and powder; it will come down from the skies until you are destroyed.
The Lord will cause you to be defeated before your enemies. You will come at them from one direction but flee from them in seven, and you will become a thing of horror to all the kingdoms on earth. Your carcasses will be food for all the birds and the wild animals, and there will be no one to frighten them away. The Lord will afflict you with the boils of Egypt and with tumors, festering sores and the itch, from which you cannot be cured. The Lord will afflict you with madness, blindness and confusion of mind. At midday you will grope about like a blind person in the dark. You will be unsuccessful in everything you do; day after day you will be oppressed and robbed, with no one to rescue you." (Detueronomy 28:15-29).
"Wade Burleson, how can you read those two passages above and ever suggest to anyone that attempting to please God by a goal of obedience to Law is a misplaced goal or a meaningless purpose in life?"

Christ Is the End of the Law

"For Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes" (Romans 10:4).

The word translated "end" is the Greek word τέλος which was used by ancient Greek writers to mean goal or purpose. Most of the anti-Nicene Christian fathers (pre-3rd century AD) translated τέλος as "goal" or "purpose."

What does it mean that "Christ is the goal or purpose of the Law"?

Simply put:
"Jesus Christ is God's consummate goal and purpose for which God gave the Law."
The Law's purpose was not given for you to obey and to become "pleasing to God."

Nope.

In fact, when God introduced the Law, all that did was make you a worse sinner by revealing even more of your sin.
"I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the Law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the Law had not said, 'You shall not covet'" (Romans 7:7).
Any church, religious organization, or lifestyle that emphasizes obedience to Law to be pleasing to God has missed the Gospel. Christ is the purpose of the Law to everyone who believes.
If you go to a church that measures your love for God, they've missed the mark. Find a church that teaches God's love for you through the Person and work of Christ Jesus.

The Law is about Jesus the Anointed One.

"Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." (Galatians 3:24).
So if you wish to ever be free from addictions in this life, then get an understanding that you are pleasing to God by the performance and Person of Jesus the Anointed One (Messiah) on your behalf.

Theologians call this imputed righteousness.

I call it living life feeling the pleasure of God independent of my performance.
"But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead." (Philippians 3:7-11).

Wade,

“A desire to control is addictive as narcotics.”

We were working on our church, and one member who was very strong was helping. He was cutting 4x8 sheetrock into 2x8 for kids to carry upstairs.

He’d put one on saw-horses, measure each end to locate half-way, make a line, slowly cut the line, then break the sheetrock, and finish by cutting the back side of the sheetrock.

I walked up, and said: “It’d be a lot faster if you’d take a 2x8 that’s cut, place it on top of the stack of sheetrock, use the uncut side as a guide, and you can cut fast as you walk.”

He grabbed me by my jacked, shook me like a ragdoll, while saying: “You’re always telling people what to do!”

Word got around that two deacons almost had a fight.

CHRISTIANE,
Saw ‘ankle doctor’ today. He ordered pain pills. (Tylenol wasn’t strong enough.)

Christiane said...

Good story, REX RAY

I kind of thought the doctor might give you stronger pain meds, but what I am hopeful is that he will order a course of treatment to help reduce the cellulitis infection.
Pain pills are 'addictive', but sometimes so necessary when pain is too much . . . I remember when I got 'shingles' a few years back, I was prescribed opioids. And yes, for that first week or so, I needed them as the pain was horrible. But 'the Family' warned me to stop taking them as soon as the pain edged off a bit and take an OTC med instead. I listened. I still have some of the opioids left.

Let 'Aunt Bee' supervise your meds, REX RAY. Judy will help keep you out of trouble.

I love the prayer of the Coptic Christians who speak of how our salvation IS 'Christ' in these words:

"“You are the Life of us all, the Salvation of us all, the Hope of us all, the Healing of us all, and the Resurrection of us all.”

from the ages to the ages, from Creation to the Fall, to the Mystery of the Incarnation, to the great Paschal Mysteries of Our Lord, we find meaning in 'how' we are saved ONLY when we realize our salvation is 'IN HIM, WITH HIM, AND THROUGH HIM'

How Christ is seen by the earliest Christian came to be expressed in the realization that He was at once, true God AND true Man . . . one of the earliest witnesses to this teaching is found in the second century writing of Melito of Sardis:

“On these accounts He came to us; on these accounts, though He was incorporeal, He formed for Himself a body after our fashion, -appearing as a sheep, yet still remaining the Shepherd; being esteemed a servant, yet not renouncing the Sonship; being carried in the womb of Mary, yet arrayed in the nature of His Father; treading upon the earth, yet filling heaven; appearing as an infant, yet not discarding the eternity of His nature; being invested with a body, yet not circumscribing the unmixed simplicity of His Godhead; being esteemed poor, yet not divested of His riches; needing sustenance inasmuch as He was man, yet not ceasing to feed the entire world inasmuch as He is God; putting on the likeness of a servant, yet not impairing the likeness of His Father. He sustained every character belonging to Him in an immutable nature: He was standing before Pilate, and at the same time was sitting with His Father; He was nailed upon the tree, and yet was the Lord of all things.”
― Melito of Sardis (died, circa 180 A.D.)

when we make 'salvation' conditional on anything other than Christ, we run the risk of wandering from "the simplicity that is in Christ".

CHRISTIANE,

I don’t think ‘Aunt Bee’ will have much of a problem with me. I’m looking at 3 old pain pill containers that still have pills. One goes back to 2015.

The last time Judy picked up pain pills for me, they ‘went around the world’ telling her not to let me take too many. I told Judy if they give her ‘trouble’ this time, just tell them not to worry because I sell half of them. (They didn’t caution her this time.)

Instructions on these are one pill every 6 hours. That’d mean 4 pills a day. Since there’s only 20 pills, they’d be gone in 5 days.

I cut them in half; making 40 pills, and plan to take only one at bedtime.

Have you been keeping up with the trial of Rittenhouse?

Wow! REX RAY, that's a blessing, the no pain. Now maybe you can really get some rest.

I did see some of the prosecution and a bit of the defense also, but not much, as around here, there is still much unpacking and settling in to do, so 'busy'. The media is at least providing coverage. He looks like a little boy at times, with that face so young, but 2 dead men and a third with his arm blown to bits by a weapon of war. I wouldn't want to be on that jury. I have conflicted thoughts about who is responsible for all this misery, and I lay a lot of it on the backs of people who enabled a kid in MANY ways, but I'm a mom-type, so no jury would take me on in a case like this, no. And then there are the dead to consider. Dear God have mercy.
It's a hard case to watch, anyway you slice it, at least for me. What are your thoughts, if you have seen any of the trial? (Does the judge seem a little 'strange' to you too? He does to me.)

Rex Ray said...

CHRISTIANE,

I believe the judge has a tiger by the tail in trying to keep the prosecution in line. Judge objected to him calling the dead as “victims”, as that was for the jury to decide. He also pointed the gun at the jury with his finger on the trigger.

Today’s, Judy’s favorite, Outnumbered, covered the trial pretty well. The National Guard is standing by. The jury hasn’t announced any decision yet.

Received a book yesterday from my brother-in-law, Rollie Rinker’s younger brother, James. WOW! The ‘Grapes of Wrath’ never had it so good. Many years ago, he lived with us a while.

His mother had her first baby at age 14, and the last at age 43 which totaled 13. His father never learned to read, and signed his name with an X. He worked as a Sharecropper. (The owner got half and he got half of the crop that was grown.)

Rex Ray said...

CHRISTIANE,

“He lived with us a while” should be, he lived with us a year.

REX RAY,

I heard that in Dallas, people from QAnon had gathered to await the 'return' of JFK, Jr. (from the dead?) so that JFK Jr. could be Donald Trump's vice-presidential running mate in 2024. The QAnon 'prophecy' is that Trump will win and eventually become not only the President of the USA, but the 'King of the World' and;

worse, this:

the QAnon faithful are looking forward to mass executions of Trump's enemies and all those who opposed him. These mass executions will be held publicly so that the QAnon followers can watch, as a form of 'revenge' and will be held for the glory of Donald Trump.

REX RAY, this stuff is crazy... absolutely nuts. I think the conspiracy theory craze has reached its ultimate limit, but still there are photos and videos of hundreds of QAnon followers in Dallas awaiting 'the event' of JFK Jr.'s 'return'.

There has to be better goings on than this for sure. I need some good news soon.

CHRISTIANE,

The QAnon are crazy. They’d have a better chance waiting for the return of Jesus.

I was all set to tell you the show of Tucker Carlson tonight. It was about Kyle Rittenhouse. Carlson pretty much proved the kid is innocent. The trial is over in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and the jury hasn’t given a decision in two days. (As a rule, if the jury makes a quick decision, the person is found innocent, but the longer it takes the person is usually found guilty.)

CHRISTIANE, how would you like it if Kyle was your son, and the Jury can hear a crowd chanting “If Kenosha don’t get it shut it down.” They have a life-size cardboard picture of Kyle. It has: “Konvict Killer Kyle”

Stores have already boarded their windows, and 500 of the National Guard has been brought in.

Christiane said...

REX RAY,

I am feeling badly for all of the mothers involved. Kyle seems like a VERY 'young' kid but I think he did go there to use that gun and he did. I also don't think he had a CLUE about the seriousness of what he was going to do with that gun. My brother says that kids don't fully mature in their brains until they are in their early twenties, so 'adolescence' is still a time of 'development', not of full maturity.

That's why the law against giving kids guns.

I wouldn't want to be the mothers, no; not of Kyle nor of the two who were slain, nor of the boy with his arm blown to shreds. The pain of this whole tragedy is that it didn't have to happen but for our miserable gun culture that everyone seems to love so much;

but the price of it??? The dead young people? The slain children?
It's our 'way', this gun culture, but worshiping guns has demanded blood sacrifices that in many cases WEREN'T 'necessary' if guns had been kept out of the hands of criminals and sick people and young kids who couldn't imagine what actually killing another human being would be like. Very sad, this trial, yes. But Kyle made some bad decisions and so did those who enabled him, and THEY are the ones I want to see held accountable also. We Americans need to take another look at what we have wrought because these blood sacrifices call out to us from the graves of the innocent.

“Protests broke out over the shooting of a Black man, Jacob Blake, by a white Kenosha police officer.”

Kyle went to that town where his father lived which was 28 miles away. He went there to protect car dealerships that were having their cars burned.

https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/shootings-arrest-trial-and-more-the-kyle-rittenhouse-story-explained/2684756/
“Kenosha County Sherriff David Beth said people in a vigilante group had been patrolling the streets at night. Kyle appeared in several videos alongside those groups.”

Joseph Rosenbaum, the first to die, was 36 years old and had been setting fires. He chased Kyle into a corner while cussing him. He grabbed for Kyle’s gun and Kyle pulled the trigger.

A video shows how the next person is killed. Kyle is on his back, and a guy is hitting him in the head with a skateboard when Kyle shoots him.

Rex Ray said...

The third guy that Kyle shoots (doesn’t kill) was aiming a pistol at him.

CHRISTIANE,

Today, Outnumbered showed the judge ruled in the Kyle Rittenhouse trial that the jury could have their request to see the drone video in the courtroom.

Christiane said...

Hey REX RAY,

it sounds like the jury is trying to evaluate the evidence responsibly, so I do feel a bit better about whatever the outcome may be

the judge still sounds 'strange' to me, but that's okay as I've been watching too many celebrity judges' shows and maybe this guy is the REAL thing :)

I haven't seen much of the trial, only a little of the defense and the prosecution. I am not on the jury, thank God. I am not the judge. I am not a 'lawyer' and everytime I go to my attorney for legal advice (estate), I pay a whopping bill, but it is still less than I think she's worth. I feel badly for ALL involved and if I feel any anger, it is towards those who enabled the boy to get a gun at his age, and a weapon of war at that. Maybe I'm angry at all of us who have fostered a gun-happy culture that sacrifices our children in exchange for 'freedom to carry a weapon'. To me, that's not a 'fair' or 'just' exchange; it's just a thoughtless kind of irresponsibility and a hope that the next child to die won't be mine.'

REX RAY, I'm your basic 'mom type'. I just hope the jury weighs the evidence according to law and I pray for the families of all involved. For Kyle, I look at him as a 'kid' and I know he doesn't (or shouldn't) have full responsibility because of his age. I also blame the 'divisions' in our country that encouraged both 'sides' to do what was beyond our right to protest injustices. Where do we go to try the forces of 'division', REX RAY? Wow. There's enough blame to spread around, so much that to see it all fall on the head of a kid seems once again, a part of the tragedy of a run-away gun culture in a divided land. Some thoughts. (sigh)

Rex Ray said...

CHRISTIANE,

I’m sure you’ve heard it said, “Guns don’t kill people; people kill people.”

Three videos: body, cellphone, and from a drone.
I believe the jury wanted to see the drone video because it shows how men were killed.

1. Kyle running from a man.
2. Kyle on his back being hit in the head with a skateboard.

Man shot by Kyle Rittenhouse says he pointed own gun amid fears for life - BBC News

Grosskreutz, 27, was at the protest volunteering as a medic and said in court that he was affiliated with a social justice group called the People's Revolution Movement, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Under tense cross-examination on Monday, the defendant's lawyer, Corey Chirafisi, asked Grosskreutz: "When you were standing three to five feet from him with your arms up in the air, he’d never fired, right?"
"Correct," Grosskreutz said.
"It wasn't until you pointed your gun at him, advanced on him, that he fired, right?"
"Correct," Grosskreutz said he did not mean to point the gun at Rittenhouse and also denied he had been chasing after the teen, who was aged 17 at the time.
Asked what was going through his mind as he got close to Rittenhouse, he said: "That I was going to die."
"I was never trying to kill the defendant. In that moment, I was trying to preserve my own life, but doing so while taking the life of another is not something I am capable or comfortable doing," he told the court.

Armed with a semi-automatic rifle, Rittenhouse had just fatally shot Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, who had swung a skateboard at him. Rittenhouse and the men he shot are all white.
Grosskreutz was shot in the right bicep, causing severe damage to his arm. Pictures of his wound were shown to the jury, causing some to look away in discomfort, according to court reporters.
Grosskreutz was the 16th witness to testify for the prosecution. Rittenhouse's defense team are expected to call their own witnesses after the prosecution closes on Tuesday.
The rioting broke out in Kenosha after police shot Jacob Blake seven times in the back on 23 August 2020. A woman had called police to say Blake was at her home in violation of a restraining order. Blake, who had a knife, was getting into a car where his three children were seated when police opened fire. He survived but was paralyzed from the waist down.

What does video evidence show?
Bystander video captures Rittenhouse being chased into the car park of a used-car dealership by Rosenbaum.
Moments later, unseen on video, Rittenhouse fires four times and kills Rosenbaum.
As he runs down the street away from the scene, Mr. Rittenhouse falls and multiple people converge upon him.
Mr. Huber hits Mr. Rittenhouse in the head and neck with a skateboard. Mr. Rittenhouse kills him with a bullet to the stomach.
Grosskreutz approaches him with a pistol in hand. Rittenhouse wounds him with a shot in the arm.

https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2021-11-18/msnbc-banned-from-kyle-rittenhouse-trial

“MSNBC banned from Rittenhouse trial after freelancer suspected of tailing juror van”

Since there was a lot of noise from people in the street at the courthouse with ‘bullhorns’ and shouting Kyle was guilty, the judge put the jury on a bus that had the windows painted black.

Christiane said...

REX RAY,

Like I said, the judge seems a bit 'strange'.

REX RAY, I think we can safely say that the jury is taking time to carefully and thoroughly weigh the evidence, and I heard today that one even asked permission to be able to take the 30 plus pages of directions that the judge had prepared for the jury to follow during their deliberations.
What this tells me is that the jury is trying to do its job and is taking their duty seriously. I find that very reassuring, that they will examine everything to the best of their abilities before voting. I will have MORE confidence in the jury's decision than I have in the judge's rather peculiar act (he seems very uncomfortable under national examination of his procedings . . . I guess he's not used to exposure to such a wide national audience. (?)

I am sorry for the boy but I am also very sorry for the others who suffered.

If you think about it,
what MESSAGE would be sent to young people in our current society IF Kyle were to walk free without any penalties for at least bringing a war weapon to a protest illegally (I refer to his age).

I would expect some degree of accountability at least on his using a gun at his age in such circumstances. I'm sorry I didn't follow the trial more closely so that we could haggle over it, but I am going to trust that the jury is operating in good faith (hopefully). They know he's a kid. They've probably got kids too. It's a darn tragedy all around, with no 'winners', except maybe the gun's manufacturer$.

Rex Ray said...

CHRISTIANE,

I believe the judge has a tiger by the tail in trying to keep the Prosecution in line. I think he was smart in moving the jury somewhere by bus so they’d stop hearing people yell “If you don’t convict Kyle, the town will burn.”

I think you’d learn a lot if you watched the Tucker Carlson show. Today, he said the Prosecution got the same drone video as the Defense, but the Prosecution video was clear while the Defense video was fuzzy.

I’ll bet you’d agree the Defense should have gotten a clear video.

Did you see outside the courthouse Black Lives Matter signs? Thank goodness race wasn’t involved.

I believe this trial has more attention than the OJ trial where the smartest lawyer won.

Christiane said...

He did. He's still so young. He is still a 'kid' at heart.

I hope the person (adult) who bought him that gun and the ammunition is prosecuted.

I don't have the same response as you do, REX RAY. There are no 'winners' here, sadly. Just a kid and some dead people and a badly wounded guy, and some adults who 'enabled' Kyle to get that gun in the first place.

I give the jury credit for taking the time to weigh the evidence. THAT is what gives me confidence in their decisions as jurors carrying out their civic duty.

That judge? Strange! Rather thin-skinned which detracted from his professionalism.

Glad it's over for Kyle's mom and family. I hope they help him recover from this trouble and stay AWAY from the wrong types. We shall see.

Rex Ray said...

CHRISTIANE,

You seem to think guns was the cause of the trouble. Without a gun Kyle would be dead. His removing graffiti is what made Rosenbaum angry, and chased him into a corner.

Makes you wonder if Rosenbaum and the skateboard guy were angry because Kyle was removing what they'd done.

Asking prayer for my brother-in-law, Rollie Rinker. Just read an email where he’s in the hospital being treated for high blood pressure. Years ago, he had a heart triple bypass.

He's always been the funny one in the family; school teacher for 30 years. He can sing really good. Once when giving a graduation speech where he was the principle, he told them he and his wife were going to sing their favorite love song when they were dating. He warned them they might get a little teary-eyed.

“Cigarettes, and whisky, and wild wild women, they’ll drive you crazy; they’ll drive you insane.” (The kids loved it.)

Rex Ray said...

One day a teacher came into Rollie’s office as mad as hops.
“What’s wrong?”
“I heard a lot of giggling in the boy’s restroom, and they were seeing how high they could go on the wall!”
“What did you do?”
“I hit the ceiling!”
She laughed later but not at the moment when Rollie said, “Did you win?”
They lived with our parents when Dad was in his 90’s. One day Dad said, “At my funeral someday, I’d like for you to sing, ‘I’ll fly away’?
“Dave, just couldn’t do that.”
“WHY NOT?”
“I’d get too tickled.”

This year, a lot of friends were visiting us. Judy has a recliner that operates by pushing buttons. They make noise.
She pushed a button, and everyone laughed when Rollie said, “Judy, do you have a problem?”

Rex Ray said...

Good news! Hospital got Rollie’s blood pressure regulated and he’s in good shape.

A question for you all.

Would you feel comfortable with BLM or Antifa being armed with assault rifles during their protests?

Christiane said...

I don't know if 'Antifa' is actually a REAL entity. I doubt it. I think the phrase 'Antifa' is a pejorative propaganda expression instead.

I think black lives DO matter, but in order to believe that, I think a person must consider the full human dignity of every PERSON as derived from being 'made in the image of God' and bearing a God-given soul.

If there is a 'race war' confrontation, it will NOT be provoked or started by the black community, no. It will be provoked by the same entities who came to Charlottesville, VA and demonstrated their brand(s) of hate with torch parades and then with the violence that killed Heather Heyer. The victims of their hate will include races that they see as threats to white supremacy, and will also target immigrants and non-Christians.

Assault rifles? According to the right wing, these rifles kill no one . . . it is said this: "people kill, not guns" Try telling this to the parents of the Sandy Hook victims, or to the parents of the many public high schools where there have been 'active shooter' incidents. When these parents bury their children, they may have an opinion that MANY in our land have ENABLED sick people to get hold of guns and the combination of the ENABLERS and the MANUFACTURERS and the POLITICIANS and the GUN CULTURE WARRIORS might just have a share in the blame for 'people kill', yes.

This past week, vigilante behavior was a focal point in how allowing an under-age gun owner permission to 'help' a police department work a protest can turn out.
There is enough responsibility to go around for everyone involved.

'Assault rifles' destroy whole organs and can pierce body armor. To the degree of the 'damage' such weapons can do to the human body, I'd say the type of weapon used to shoot up protestors or even the little children at Sandy Hook, made a difference.
They say that there wasn't much left of the children who were shot that day, such was the damage to their little bodies.

some thoughts on the weaponry available to our citizenry which may play out the coming drama of political chaos as it seeks to unfold in the attempts to destroy American democracy

. . . thanks dear people, for letting me rant, even if my words are written in vain ' to speak that which profiteth not.' (Isaiah 58:9)

always hopeful for better to come, but we will reap what we sow, and we can see openly and recently, how our collective foolishness falls so heavily on the nation's young people and children . . . May God have mercy

"Last year in America, 1,055 people were killed with a club or by hands."

On the home front, after many days of pills not helping cellulous in my ankle, I may be headed for a hospital.

Hello Mr. Kuter,

what do you see as how the wider Christian world will embrace such a creation?

will it be cursed or blessed ?

Our Lord Himself may provide some insight into how we might look at such a creature, as in the Incarnation, He became BOTH fully Man and fully God.

And since in the Incarnation, Our Lord took our whole humanity to Himself in order to be able to heal it,
what in that light can we think of a creature that is a 'chimera' both human and 'monkey'?

Perhaps some in the Christian world might call for 'blessing'?
I don't know.

Lately there is enough of hate in our world. It is hard for me to imagine 'more' hatred coming from a humanly-altered life form that arrives innocent of its own existence on this earth. But 'hatred' and 'contempt' and 'finger-pointing' are rampant and I fear the worst for the innocence of a gerry-mandered living creature that sought no life on its own.

? I would leave the poor creatures to the mercy of God who sustains all that lives in existence. May God have mercy on our foolish ways.

Rex Ray,
Had the shooter been black and killed two Proud Boys in self defense, the trial would have been held many months ago and he'd now be serving a life term in the Wisconsin State Penitentiary.
I know what I'm talking about, I was born on the Menominee reservation and raised in the Southeastern corner of Wisconsin (town of Racine). Kenosha? You might as well be in Selma Alabama.

Mugg Potter,

I’ll take your word for that. I believe if those killed were Black, BLM would have burned the prison Kyle was in.

Tucker Carlson had Kyle on his show yesterday. Kyle said when he was in prison for over 80 days, there wasn’t any running water. Said he could hardly stand to smell himself.

Tucker asked if he was going to sue people like Biden who said he was a White Racists. Kyle said no, he just wanted to get on with his life.
