Merry Christmas. Mom

And my you have the merriest and happiest of Christmases and New Years, too.

Know this: your story as I've watched it play out, from that first story in the Alabama Baptists three years ago, has made an immense difference to us. In more ways than I can describe.

So, thanks for that, too.

Merry Christmas to the Burleson family and to all of my fellow bloggers / readers!!!!

Luke 2
1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

L's,

I was wondering if you were the "advent poster!"

I didn't read all of them, but the ones I did read were beautiful! And they were an absolutely wonderful addition to the comment stream! Thank you!

Dear Elisabeth,

It's me, L's

I'm glad you enjoyed it. For me it is just a traditional part of Christmas preparation, but I can see now how it might have seemed a little strange in tone, if people were not used to the way it is worded.

Have a beautiful, peaceful Christmas. Love, L's

Merry Christmas to all. In the words of Tinny Tim, "God bless us every one."

And I hope each of you can have a white Christmas to remind you of the purity within and offered by the savior child who arrived in Bethleham.

Merry CHRISTmas and grace and peace to all. Thank you too, Emmanuel Baptist Church for blessing us who are away from family at CHRISTmas with a wonderful story through drama and song we were able to see on the internet. It helped us feel a part of your family at this time of year. From one who is always reading and praying while out in the field. Stan

Isaiah 9:6

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon =His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

What Child Is This?

a favourite quote about Aslan from the Narnia Chronicles:

"That you will, dearie, and no mistake," said Mrs. Beaver; "if there's anyone who can appear before Aslan without their knees knocking, they're either braver than most or else just silly."
"Then he isn't safe?" said Lucy.
"Safe?" said Mr. Beaver; "don't you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you."

ASLAN:

He is not tame but we have safely tamed Him
He is not safe but we've caged Him in a church
The commands He gave we've turned to wishful thinking
and the life He lived we've iced with sugared, almond paste.

He is not tame but we keep him at arm's distance.
He is not safe but we've made Him one of us.
The journey that he maps, is travelled by our SUVs
and His way diverted through leafy, suburban lanes.

He is not tame yet we hardly seem to notice.
He is not safe so we've simply turned our heads;
But His call still echoes in our stabled ears
and His way still lies through a country not our own"

Wade,

It's on Christmas Day that I am reminded of why your church's name (Emmanuel Baptist) is so significant. God is truly with us!

May your efforts through this blog bring forth a mighty harvest in 2009!

Blessings,

Merry Christmas Wade and Rachelle, family. Thank you both for another great year of ministry. I continue to grow in knowledge due to both your teaching and example. Our church family is blessed to have had you for so many years.

One observation about this message, Wade, is that it goes out equally to all, whether the one receiving it is a divisive person or one who calls us all to unity in Jesus Christ. It is a message of unity in the One who came, died, and lived again for our oneness in the only One who can save us all.

Thank you for sending such a meaningful and wonderful message on this lovely day. It is to the glory of the One who is Immanuel, the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Almighty God, the Wonderful One, the Great Counselor, the Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace.

I heartily join in and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and pray that we may live in the Spirit of His Love every day of the year.
