There is an often overlooked but powerful prophecy regarding the advent of the Messiah given over 1600 years prior to His birth.
"The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come" (Genesis 49:10).
Alred Edersheim, the orthodox Jew who spent a lifetime studying the Torah's prophecies of the Messiah, who then converted to evangelical Christianity as a result of his study, considered this prophecy his favorite. Many believe Edersheim's converstion to Christ was a direct result of his study of this prophecy, which he found to be beautifully, and exclusively fulfilled in Christ.
Six years ago next Sunday I preached Shiloh Has Come at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Enid, Oklahoma.

Birthday Lights
Sparkling lights flash from our town,
Glistening, shimmering glow,
Shining upward, all around,
Illuminating flow,
Winter makes no cruel attack
On Fall’s extended season,
It’s just as though we’re all off track
Preparing for the reason
We march in frenzy, rush headlong
To find the perfect gift,
Oblivious to the sin, the wrong
That caused so great a rift,
For darkness loomed, its shadow moved,
Eclipsing Earth below,
No work of man could ‘ere undo
The judgement, pain, and woe, yet,
He looked down compassionate,
His mercy to fulfill
He sent a gift, a gift of light
According to His will
He sent His Son to this dark place
Beaming news of worth,
Love transcending, bathed in grace,
Divine and Glorious birth!
He came to light this troubled land
Resplendent in His presence,
The perfect gift became a man,
His life the perfect present,
